Bathroom Remodeling on a Budget

If you've always wanted to update your bathroom but didn't think you could do it on a budget, then these two simple strategies can get you your dream bathroom for less than $1,000.
Think Small
You don't need to gut your bathroom to make it look like new. Instead of using your entire budget to replace your tub and shower, add value by focusing on less expensive items such as your sink, toilet and vanity. While some of these items can be purchased new for as little as $100, you don't need to spend even that much. Simply painting or staining your vanity, for example, will give it extra flair, and adding new drawer pulls or a new faucet is an inexpensive way to complete the look. Since your bathroom is a small area, you can even replace the flooring without spending too much. Of course, you'll want to paint the walls and update the lighting, and all of this can be done for less than $1,000.
Do It Yourself and Save
If you hire someone to remodel your bathroom, then you can expect to pay about twice as much as it would cost you to do it yourself. If you're handy and you don't mind putting in a few hours, then you can take the money you save on labor and apply it to the cost of materials. For a little extra help, try picking up a book at your local bookstore. Anything you can do without hiring a contractor will make staying within your budget that much easier. If you find that you need professional assistance to install flooring, for example, then simply cross it off your list. You'll still have an amazing bathroom, and you won't have spent thousands of dollars to get it.
